autumn almost winter

Hot chocolate lilipopo

Autumn has been here for a little while, in fact we are heading towards winter although it still feels mild.  Last week the sun shone and the sea looked swimmable, I couldn't quite bring myself to get in but J braved it and enjoyed it.

Now I'm enjoying drinking oat milk hot chocolate and stitching Putting up the tree for a kit while listening to Ruth Rendell on an audio book.

I have also been learning new things on Adobe illustrator so I can improve and simplify some aspects of my patterns.  I will admit that this was more fun than I expected it to be!  Creating colour diagrams with the colours of the threads underneath.  Illustrator is something I have learnt along the way, it can be a little time consuming to learn the things I need to know but it's always worth it in the end.  I'm so happy with the colour diagrams.

A small number of 'Kitty' kits will be on sale tomorrow evening along with kits for 'a quiet place to read'.  If they sell out then they will be available for pre order for mid November

The kits have slightly different instructions to the pattern for 'a quiet place', the petals of the large flowers are backstitched rather than made with large detached chain stitches.  This is something you could do, if you prefer, with the pattern.  The main reason is that the lines on the printed panels are not removable and I thought back stitch would give better coverage.

Hallowe'en is rapidly approaching so if you fancy a bit of spooky stitching you could take a look at Swoodson says blog post showcasing some super cute hallowe'en embroidery patterns.  She kindly included my 'feeling witchy' and 'pastels and pumpkins' designs but there are lots more to see including the cutest little free ghost pattern from flamingo toes.

Now back to my Christmas stitching as the Christmas kits will be out at the end of next week.  They will be limited in number but I do also still have printed panels available if you would like to choose your own colour palette.

cute kittens in amongst the flowers

Lilipopo kitten embroidery pattern

Over the last few weeks I have been having fun sketching kittens and cats and girls with cats.

This little kitten pattern is a simple pretty pattern.  I've stitched her up in my favourite pinks and reds (although of course you could use your own favourite happy colours).  I even added a little lilac.

Full hoop close up

She is very simple to stitch. You can frame her in a hoop with her flower garden around her and butterflies floating nearby.

Kitten cushion full

or she can be stitched up as a little hanging cushion lightly filled with toy stuffing and lavender.  A lovely gift to pop on a child's pillow to help her sleep.

Stitching up picture 1

there is even a pretty little backing to stitch for the cushion with flowers and ferns.

The pattern for this little kitten is in my Etsy shop  and as always comes with a simple stitch guide and pattern transfer instructions.

There are instructions for making the little cushion included in the pattern.

I hope you have a lovely weekend with a little bit of stitchy time

in the garden - in the pink

Full warmer

I really don't know what happened to last week's post!  One minute it was Monday and then the next minute it seemed to be a week later with no blog post!  I think the sun coming out must have addled my brain a little.  But I'm here now (having got used to seeing sun again!)

Recently a customer pointed out that I didn't have an image of the actual sampler of 'in the garden' stitched up.  I realized she was right!  The samples in my images were stitched up on linen so I decided it was a good excuse to stitch up another one in pinks!

So this 'in the garden' is the actual sampler stitched up all in pinks with a touch of purple and red.  Anyone who buys the sampler or pattern will receive the pinks colour guide along with the original guides but for anyone who has bought the pattern before I thought I would pop the list of colours that I used here on my blog.

The boots are red and the plants are purple and pink with peach butterflies

I think this is my favourite colour version of my 'in the garden' pattern so far!  I think the Spring is making me a little pink happy

Ballet dancer

This week I also got my dancer pattern into my Etsy shop.  I have stitched quite a few versions of this dancing girl and finally decided on one girl with a longer dress and ribbon shoes

Short dress dancers cover

and a second girl with the same hair but with a shorter dress, stripy stockings and plain pumps.  I've given instructions for her to have an embroidered dress or an appliqued dress.  You could easily applique the longer dress too if you wished.

I've really enjoyed stitching lots of versions of her and I think I will be stitching some to sell in the shop as well.

I hope you are enjoying all your stitching and (at least in the UK) enjoying the spring sunshine

shop update

Girls collage

At the moment I am busy stitching dancers, fairies and girls.  I love doing this because it's so much fun creating each little character.  Which dress?  Boots or dancing slippers? Crazy hair or tamed hair? Stripes and more stripes... And then the little french knot embellishments.  It's a lovely calm time in between checking stock, packing and trips to the post office.

These two girls feel like dancers with their delicate shoes and dance poses.

I hope you are all enjoying your Christmas stitching

What's in my shop?

Full winter dream

I've discovered that sometimes there's a little confusion about what the different items in my shop are.  I do try to be as clear as I can but sometimes what I might think is clear can be confusing to someone else so today's post is just to clarify the different items that I sell.

Mushroom pixie lower

Firstly I sell PDF embroidery patterns.  These are the cheapest option.  You buy the pattern as an instant download and Etsy send an email with the pattern link and you then download it straight to your computer.  You will then need to print the design and trace it onto your fabric, I have instructions for transferring the design here.  The PDF contains the pattern, the pattern in reverse and a stitch and colour guide.

You can also buy 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 patterns together for a slightly cheaper price in my special offers section (I wasn't sure what else to call it!).  If you want, for example, 3 different patterns, you can buy the three pattern packet and send a message to me to let me know which patterns you would like.  I will then email the patterns to you within 24 hours.  Sometimes I am superquick because I am at my computer but sometimes I am a little slower because I am in bed and you are in Australia but it should never take longer than 24 hours.  These packets are not instant download as I need to email your particular choices out to you.

Next I sell fabric panels with the design printed onto them for you to stitch.  I honestly don't know what to call these!  I have called them samplers and fabric panels but nothing describes exactly what they are.  If you choose this option it is a little more expensive, especially if you are ordering from outside the UK as it has to be posted but you don't have to do any transferring.  You can start stitching the moment it arrives.  You can choose to order the panel with or without the PDF, so if you know how you want to stitch it and what colours you want to use you probably won't need the PDF but if you want to follow the colours and stitches that I used then you will need the PDF.  Again the PDF is emailed to you.  At the moment I have four fabric panels  available but I will be increasing this number

Yellow kit photo

Finally I sell kits, these contain everything you need to stitch the finished product.  You can choose whether to include a hoop or not depending on whether you already have a suitable one.  By the end of the week I will have all the lavender girl kits back in stock along with winter dream, friends and fairy cushion.  But they do tend to sell quite quickly and it takes a little time to gather all the materials together again to relist them.  If there's a kit you especially want please feel free to message me and I will see what I can do.

I'm hoping that I have covered everything here but if you have any other questions about ordering from my shop or my products please do ask in the comments and I will, hopefully, be able to answer
